The Division of Cardiology, Schulich Heart Program, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine University of Toronto are seeking a cardiac imaging specialist. The successful applicant should be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment as a clinician-scientist at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor and be eligible for a clinical cross-appointment to the Department of Medical Imaging at the University of Toronto. It is expected that the position will be 75% research and 25% clinical. Expected start date is July 2015 or shortly thereafter.
The successful candidate will participate in the clinical and research activities of the Schulich Heart Program at Sunnybrook. Clinical activities will be primarily focused on echocardiography, including TEE and 3D echo, with additional involvement in cardiac MRI and cardiac CT.  Within the bounds of the 25% allocation to clinical time, the candidate will also participate in general cardiology care, including the general cardiology call roster.
The research program has broad access to dedicated imaging facilities, including a combined MRI and bi-plane x-ray suite, 3D ultrasound, cardiac CT, intravascular imaging tools, and preclinical lab facilities. These facilities exist alongside an extensive clinical imaging infrastructure within both Cardiology and Medical Imaging. Current research areas in cardiovascular imaging include (1) myocardial characterization associated with acute and chronic ischemia as well as non-ischemic disease and arrhythmia substrates and (2) vascular imaging, notably coronary and peripheral occlusive disease and vulnerable plaques in close collaboration with the imaging basic science group at the Sunnybrook Research Institute. Sunnybrook is a tertiary care teaching hospital fully-affiliated with the University of Toronto, where the candidate will be expected to hold an academic appointment.
A significant record of clinical and research achievements in cardiovascular non-invasive imaging, including echocardiography, MR and CT, is a pre-requisite for this position. The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, be eligible for certification in Cardiology/Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have or be eligible for licensure in Ontario.  Estimated compensation will be in the range of $150,000- $200,000 plus fee for clinical service as well as commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Applications will be accepted until filled.
