GENERAL DUTIES

Assists in establishing and maintaining relationships with external entities and communities, representing the College's positions and interests

- Serves as a liaison to one or more external organizations, representing the College and building working relationships with the leadership of these organizations

- Plans and implements communications campaigns, working with publications staff

- Develops an understanding of the concerns of external organizations and communicates these to appropriate College management

- Plans public activities and contributes to marketing of College activities and programs to external groups

- With College publications and editorial personnel, plans, writes, and produces publicity materials and other external communications

- May maintain relationships with media representatives

- Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college of nearly 17,000 students in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for College Relations Specialist.

Reporting to the College Relations Manager, the College Relations Specialist:
- Represents the College to a portfolio of external organizations.
- Applies an understanding of the needs of external organizations to develop short- and long-range plans to advance the College's position and support community/public identified needs.
- Plans and implements major activities such as conferences, collaborative partnerships, and educational programs to support identified needs and issues.
- Works closely with the College Relations Manager to design and implement new partnerships and internship opportunities.
- Works closely with academic departments and program coordinators to maintain existing internship and partnership relations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The position requires detail-orientation, good communication, organization, and time management skills with a good work ethic and commitment for success. We seek a team-player and prefer a candidate with demonstrated interest in urban education and college access.

COMPENSATION

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
