The Associate Vice President, Organizational Effectiveness leads multiple divisions across the Human Resources unit in support of the university’s people-focused goals and initiatives. The AVP provides consulting to the academic and administrative units, and develops cutting-edge initiatives to meet the strategic goals of the university. This includes leading and/or participating in cross-functional teams to diagnose organizational effectiveness issues, collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, generating human capital recommendations to address performance gaps, and building required capabilities. The AVP also provides strategic leadership in the implementation of the university’s enterprise resource planning project. Areas of responsibility include: • Overall administration of human resources policies and practices related to workforce analysis and planning, classification, compensation, job titling, performance management, recruitment, talent acquisition, and training and development. • Helping senior leadership shape the university culture to embrace the need for change and develop the capacity to renew and transform itself as required to meet challenges and take advantage of opportunities. • Monitoring organization design, effectiveness and capabilities, and making recommendations to senior leadership for appropriate changes and improvements. Essential Functions and Examples of Work: • Design and implement comprehensive strategies, programs, and action plans to improve critical organizational performance in the areas of recruitment, classification, compensation, and employee recognition, productivity and quality. • Develop initiatives designed to build the culture of performance and innovation. • Build strategic, integrated solutions that address performance issues by creating and providing assessments, and conducting data analysis for the appropriate functional units. • Utilize workforce analytics to drive change, enhance employee engagement and inform HR decision-making across the organization. • Partner with academic and administrative units to drive process improvements; identify root causes and recommend concrete solutions that increase organization capability. • Diagnose organizational effectiveness issues and consult with senior leadership to influence change. • Comfortable in influencing others to bring about improvement and change. • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across divisions, functions and levels. Required Education & Experience: An outstanding human resources leader with a relevant Master's degree and supervisory experience in multiple HR disciplines such as classification, compensation, recruitment, job titling, and employee reward and recognition. Experience implementing human resources technology system and restructuring a classification/compensation system in a higher education setting highly preferred. Demonstrated creativity, leadership skills and the ability to formulate, communicate, and execute strategic initiatives. Strong customer-service background is needed. Integrity, good judgment and common sense are critical to this position. Experience within a college or university setting is very desirable.
