FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

New York City College of Technology, a comprehensive college of 17,000 students in downtown Brooklyn, offering associate and baccalaureate degrees, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level, to begin during the 2014-15 academic year. The position requires a commitment to teaching, research and other scholarly pursuits, service to the college, and student advisement. Research work with undergraduate students in an area of applied chemical science is strongly encouraged.

The successful candidate will be expected to prepare and present lectures in general chemistry and to develop a new course for advanced undergraduate students in the candidate's field of expertise. Furthermore, he or she will be expected to develop a research program that will involve undergraduate students and that is likely to receive external funding. City Tech offers opportunity for professional development through collaborations with the College's various science and engineering departments and with those of the larger CUNY community.

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise.  Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. in chemistry or pharmaceutical science is required, as is demonstrated teaching experience. Postdoctoral or industry experience in a field of applied chemical science is desirable.

Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
