Primary Function of Organization Unit: The Department of Plant and Microbial Biology supports teaching, research, and extension programs in fundamental plant biology and microbiology, including basic and applied research, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and outreach to state and national clientele.

Essential Job Duties: The Master's of Microbial Biotechnology (MMB) program is a Professional Science Master's program in biotechnology that combines training in science and business along with professional training with local companies through case study projects and internships. The MMB Program Coordinator's responsibilities include: * Teaching course material * Evaluating student performance on course assignments * Developing course content * Participating in curriculum development * Advising students on course selection, internship selection and academic performance * Managing student admissions process and correspond with prospective students * Creating and distributing public relations materials * Managing the websites for both the MMB program and the Plant & Microbial Biology Department * Developing and maintaining MMB databases * Coordinating MMB events * Collecting data on student placement, alumni feedback and other metrics for program evaluation and university assessment reports provided to the Graduate School. * Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the MMB Program Director.

Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelors degree in a STEM discipline with at least 3 years of work experience in the biotechnology industry or in program management.

Department Required Skills : Demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Website design/maintenance. Candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organization skills are essential for the successful candidate along with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Master's degree in a STEM discipline. Experience in a university setting.
