Senior Production Editor
The Senior Production Editor manages and oversees all production efforts for 20-30 book projects per year from manuscript to bound books and journals. Works closely with Editorial staff, authors, and external contractors and binders to guide projects through copyediting, interior and exterior design, typesetting, indexing, printing and binding and delivery of finished books to warehouse for distribution. Develops editorial policies and procedures within the production department. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of experience in a book publishing setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills and Abilities: *Excellent communication and project management skills *Demonstrated understanding of book production standards and practices *Demonstrated ability to write in a scholarly fashion, edit and use citation styles *Ability to manage an in-house production of new book projects including the ability to resolve production problems *Ability to liaison with industry professionals *Ability to develop editorial policies and procedures *Ability to supervise students and oversee others *Demonstrated competency with computers and software programs Preferred: *Experience with a publisher of scholarly or nonfiction trade books *Experience working with external publication-related vendors Please visit our website at www.temple.edu, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Careers @ Temple.
