Position Summary: Provides and/or assists with accounting controls for all accounts of the Feed the Future Legume Innovation Lab's portfolio of international projects, which exceeds $30 million for the period 2013-2018; reviews and approves expenditures; audits vouchers and invoices, and processes electronic documents; duties also include: reconciliation and monthly reporting as well as monitoring of post-award grant budget expenditures and grant reporting; monitoring grant salary lines and preparing cost redistributions or appointments as needed; assisting with pre-award grant budgeting and preparation of e-transmittals as necessary; additional responsibilities include: processing expenditures and travel reimbursement vouchers, and may include processing human resource documents for staff, faculty, and participant trainees; utilizing skills related to pre- and post-awards connected to international research and training grants, closely engaged with the federal government and MSU Sponsored Programs Administration staff. Support Staff: Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field; one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in accounting and/or business administration; experience in word processing, spreadsheet, and database software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively as a team member in a busy, deadline-oriented environment; ability to work independently with good judgment; self-starter whose strengths include problem solving, critical and analytical thinking; detail-oriented; good organizational skills; and good working knowledge of MSU EBS finance, business intelligence, and SAP systems, or other comparable management information systems; experience using complex Excel spreadsheet software; experience in an international context and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
