Position Summary: IT Services University Systems is currently seeking an individual to serve as application administrator for our Middleware Services Team; the department is a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple customers and deadlines; the successful candidate will be responsible for working with a cross-functional team to provide proactive application administration, monitoring, analysis, and urgent troubleshooting and resolution of application administration issues; major responsibilities to include: ability to diagnose and resolve technical software issues; tracks and routes issues to a successful completion including communicating resolutions to management and customers; researches issues/questions using all available resources and advises colleagues and customers of possible solutions; administers accounts internally through various vendor platforms; monitors servers and services according to scheduled maintenance procedures and performs scheduled diagnostics and maintenance as required; performs system modifications, upgrades, software updates to vended and home grown developed applications and systems.

Support Staff: Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems; one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience supporting a Windows or Unix server infrastructure and the client server applications running in that environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Typing Requirements (wpm):

Desired Qualifications: Ability to identify and escalate issues requiring urgent attention in a 24/7 environment; proficient knowledge and understanding of Linux and Windows systems; general knowledge of network infrastructure (router, firewalls, switches, WAN connection); proven experience of fundamental operations of software, hardware and servers; proficient in installation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise software solutions; experience with virtualization technologies (XEN, KVM, VMWare); knowledge of various network protocols TCP/IP, DHCP, and routing protocols; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, cross functional team environment; highly motivated with the ability to self-learn and research including staying current with system information, changes and updates; strong oral and written skills, including the ability to document issues and issue resolution (including root cause analysis).
