Office of Distance Learning

The ODL Faculty for Instructional Development primarily works with departments to design, develop, and evaluate distance programs and courses. The position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Instructional Development of the Office of Distance Learning. Responsibilities include:

Designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating appropriate instructional and technological solutions in support of online courses and programs.

Ensuring the quality of the instructional design of online courses and programs though training, consultation, and other related activities.

As a instructional project manager, interacting with administrators, faculty, staff, and ODL distance learning academic specialists in order to ensure the timely completion of instructional development and other assigned projects.

Assisting with the development of project budgets, timelines, and marketing materials to ensure successful deployment of online programs and courses.

Providing current project information to satisfy external inquiries and administrative reporting requirements.

Engaging in research and staying abreast of applicable trends, developments, and industry standards to ensure that technology solutions are up-to-date.

Supporting the ODL team with relevant internal services.

Earned master's degree, ideally in instructional design, educational technology, communication/information, or related field.

Expertise in instructional design, course development, distance learning technologies, and teaching.

Experience with instructional media selection in the distance learning environment.

Experience with project management.

Excellent communication skills, especially with regard to negotiation, clarifying complex technologies, and making presentations.

Ability to learn independently and work under minimal supervision.

Ability to conceptualize and design systematic solutions to complex problems.

Doctoral degree, ideally in instructional design, educational technology, communication/information, or related field.

Experience with virtual classroom technology.

Experience with accessibility in the distance education setting.

Experience using Blackboard or similar LMS.

Experience in online course evaluation.

Anticipated Salary Range
Minimum salary: $55,000 to negotiable
