Job Description: This position is responsible for providing communications of a public safety nature for the Harper College Police Department, other College departments and surrounding emergency services providers.

Duties of Position: Duties include preparing, processing, filing and retrieving various electronic and paper documents on behalf of the department; promoting and maintaining community relations; serving as a resource via radio and telephone to all divisions of the college; monitoring the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network and the National Weather Service; and dispatching/calling personnel to assist in alarms or emergencies.

Education Requirements: Must have an Associate's Degree or the equivalent of education and experience; be at least 20 years of age; successfully complete a background investigation, polygraph and psychological examination; successfully pass a keyboarding assessment exam of 30 words per minute; excellent communicative skills in English (both oral and written); and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience Requirements: On the job training to be completed within six months includes completion of several law enforcement courses, and Harper specific training.
