Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager

Towson University seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager. This position functions under the general supervision of the Director of Construction and is responsible for managing all campus mechanical engineering activities.

 

Responsibilities: Manage campus construction projects from scope development to close out with a focus on infrastructure, plumbing, mechanical and HVAC related tasks; ensure design and installation compliance with University standards for energy and environmental conservation, and all applicable Federal, State, and Local Code authorities; develop schematic drawings for small project procurement; develop cost estimates; perform mechanical design review for assigned new and renovation projects; manage the procurement process to contract with design consultants, general contractors, construction managers, and trade contractors; and manage awarded contractors through the construction process including RFI’s, submittals, invoicing, and change orders.

 

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and six years of experience documenting and managing mechanical construction projects. Must hold a current professional Mechanical Engineer license to be considered for this position. Candidates must have strong knowledge of design fundamentals and field means and methods of installation; must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills; and must have the ability to handle multiple projects at once. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
