Towson University is currently accepting applications for a contractual part-time Fingerprinting Clerk in the Office of Human Resources. This position is responsible for capturing and submitting fingerprints to Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) via LiveScan for both Federal and State background investigations.
Responsibilities: Schedules appointments for all Towson related employment and non-paid services; gathers required information, enters and captures data and submit prints, ensuring that prints are clear and acceptable to CJIS; maintains related applicant log and completed background investigation files; reviews and processes monthly invoices for costs related to fingerprinting; researches discrepancies or problems related to processing, retrieval of data and/or prints; maintains audit log/reports required by CJIS and other State and federal agencies; maintains and troubleshoots fingerprinting machine including scheduling regular maintenance checks with vendor as necessary; and serves as back-up to Scanning Clerk.
Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (20 hours per week). This position has the potential to become full-time in the future.
Required: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of clerical experience. Candidate must possess strong problem solving and customer service skills, and be able to learn the proper techniques and procedures needed to accurately submit background requests to the appropriate agencies.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary: $12.39 per hour. Contract offers University benefits that include annual leave days, holidays, sick days, and tuition remission. This position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
