Serves as the chief academic officer of the College and is responsible for overseeing the various academic units, while maintaining the academic excellence and integrity of the institution. The Vice President ensures that the College operates in accord with the policies of the Board of Trustees, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and its various accrediting agencies. RESPONSIBLE TO: President of the College and collaborates closely with the Vice Chancellors. QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate: •A vision for excellence in student learning that is consistent with the Vision of the •College and College District. •Knowledge and understanding of college administrative practices; understanding of operations of a multi-college/campus district desirable. •The ability to provide leadership in planning, budgeting, and implementing institutional effectiveness systems as they relate to student learning. •The ability to organize and lead the operations of the academic area of the college, to cultivate a learner-centered environment, and to foster excellence. •Effective communication and team-building skills across all areas of the college. •The ability to represent the college effectively in a variety of district and community settings. •Ability to use data to use data to promote continuous improvement. An understanding of and commitment to the student-oriented philosophy of the community college. •A commitment to fostering student success, quality programs, and faculty, innovation, and integration of technology. Experience Five (5) years of teaching and administrative experience in higher education. Education Master’s degree required; doctorate preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS No extraordinary physical requirements. Required Licenses and Certifications Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License. Must be insurable through Alamo Colleges’ insurers.
