The Division of Academic Affairs at Towson University seeks an Advisor for the Study Abroad Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting credit-bearing study abroad programs to students and faculty, advising and supporting students prior to, during and after their study abroad experience, and administering select TU study abroad programs for Towson students.


Responsibilities: Recruit students and advise them concerning all aspects of the study abroad experience; administer TU programs and exchanges in designated region(s); maintain student records utilizing the Horizons web-based management system; develop and facilitate select short-term TU faculty-led programs; manage the TU Study Abroad Scholarship process; design and deliver pre-departure and reentry programming for students; communicate with administrative and academic departments across campus; liaise with international partner institutions and study abroad program providers; help promote study abroad on and off-campus. Active involvement in the international education field is encouraged through participation in professional organizations and conferences. Domestic and international travel may be required.


Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; two years related work experience including time spent studying or working abroad; familiarity with international program administration; and excellent communication, writing, and computer skills. Master’s degree in international education or related field, and knowledge of one or more foreign languages strongly preferred. A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
