The MIT School of Engineering (SOE) seeks an assistant dean to coordinate and oversee fundraising activities based on its strategic plans and priorities, its academic departments, and other programs. This will include coordination with MIT central administration as it relates to its comprehensive campaign. Will have direct contact with donors and potential donors, broadening the school’s strategic partnerships with individuals, corporations, industry, and other potential funding sources; determine and manage stewardship- and cultivation-related activities for SOE constituents; work closely with the dean, associate dean, and other members of the Dean’s Office staff; supervise other development staff in the Dean’s Office, including stewardship officer, communications officer, and department-based major gifts officers; work closely with the broader Resource Development community at MIT to increase the school's development profile; act as a liaison to units within the school; and cooperate closely with MIT’s central offices to ensure that the needs and interests of the School of Engineering are well represented in MIT's overall fundraising activities. Will report to the dean.

Requirements: master's degree, preferably in engineering; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven record of accomplishment in a position requiring independent planning, the efficient utilization of time, and the ability to handle a variety of responsibilities simultaneously; ability to motivate staff and interact effectively with a wide variety of internal and external constituencies in a complex fundraising environment; and proficiency with technology. A minimum of ten years’ front-line experience in a major gift, sales, or business development environment preferred; as is a track record of working directly and effectively with researchers, fundraising professionals, corporate and alumni donors, and corporate executives.

Position involves travel and participation in evening and weekend activities.
