Job Description Summary:

This position is a member of the senior leadership team in the Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity and Inclusion. The Director has day-to-day responsibility for advancing the university's compliance with Title IX and advancing its commitment to maintain an inclusive community, including consulting with persons reporting sexual harassment and promoting the university's diversity priorities. In addition, the Director is the point of contact for designing and implementing collaborative activities with the Offices of Admissions, Student Engagement, and Student Health, among others, including such activities as student bystander and diversity dialogue programs. When applicable, the position also supports the work of the President's Council on Diversity and Inclusion. The Director is a key actor in campus-wide compliance with Title IX and facilitates the university's commitment to providing a learning and working environment free of all discriminatory behavior, including sex discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual abuse, sexual violence, and sexual misconduct (collectively, "sexual misconduct"). The position monitors and implements actions to comply with Title IX, other federal and local laws and regulations, and applicable university policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree, or higher, in an appropriate area of specialization and 7-8 years of appropriate experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Progressive experience with increasing responsibility in policy administration, complaint resolution and investigation of grievances is required.


Desired Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws and regulations, including Title IX, sexual harassment and other applicable laws and regulations.

Strong organization, planning, analytical, problem solving and excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to: communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; use discretion and good judgment; maintain confidentiality; and work under multiple deadlines.

Administrative experience in higher education, preferably in the student life area, or a non-profit working on issues of sexual misconduct is highly desirable.

Experience in the successful development and implementation of educational and training programs, with strong presentation and facilitation skills, and in case management is preferred.

Prior Higher Education experience is highly desirable.

Function:
  • Monitors and implements actions to comply with Title IX other federal and local laws and regulations, and applicable university policies. Promotes campus-wide compliance and facilitates the University's commitment to providing a learning and working environment free of all discriminatory behavior, including sex discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual abuse and violence, and sexual misconduct (collectively, "sexual misconduct").

  • Function:
  • Consults with students, faculty, and staff who report sexual misconduct. Advises individuals about options for initiating formal complaints alleging sexual misconduct and directing them to available resources, and, if appropriate, initiates interim actions in response to a complaint. Organizes and directs [designated] individuals, including Assistant Title IX Coordinators, who advise persons seeking informal and formal complaint resolution.

  • Function:
  • Manages and conducts Title IX investigations; Reviews and monitors complaint proceedings for students, faculty and staff in collaboration with other campus departments and external agencies.

  • Function:
  • Oversees campus communication and education efforts regarding Title IX, relevant university policies, procedures for filing complaints alleging sexual misconduct, and related resources, including managing the university's HAVEN website. Assists with the development, implementation and provision of training and outreach programs for students, faculty and staff.

  • Function:
  • Analyzes trends and compiles and monitors data/records pertaining to training, complaints received, investigations and findings related to sexual misconduct, incorporating input from university and community partners, including the Office of Human Resources, Faculty Recruitment and Personnel Relations, Student Rights and Responsibilities, the Department of Athletics, and those in student services with responsibilities for student health, international students, LGBT students and employees, and Greek Life, to assess effectiveness of campus efforts to prevent sexual misconduct and recommend changes, as appropriate, to senior administrators.
