The position reports to the Dean of the College of Engineering. The Department Chairperson is the chief academic and administrative officer of the department and is responsible for the successful planning, organization, policy development, implementation and direction of all aspects of the department. The Department Chairperson is expected to ensure that students who interact with faculty and staff have a high quality experience that exemplifies the values of the institution. She/he must demonstrate a strong commitment for student success. The Department Chairperson is expected to effectively manage all aspects of the department, work collaboratively with the other departments and offices of the college and the university, and comply with the university’s policies and procedures. Candidates must either have a doctoral degree in engineering, engineering technology, or a related field or a master's degree in one of these areas along with three or more years of industrial experience. Candidates with current and active progress towards a doctoral degree will also be considered if they have a minimum of one year of experience in industry and a track record of administrative and financial management responsibilities related to engineering or engineering technology programs in an academic setting.
