SUNY Empire State College, School for Graduate Studies, seeks an experienced Instructional Designer (State Title: Senior Staff Assistant) to support the use of technology to enhance learning at our Saratoga Springs, NY location. Responsibilities include: •Working with curriculum developers and faculty to design, create and evaluate technology-mediated learning experiences. •Conducting faculty workshops and training on design best practice and emerging technologies. •Supporting use of technology tools and media to enhance learning and interaction, including ability to support web communications software. •Integrating web 2.0 tools into learning environments. •Providing technical support and guidance to faculty and students at a distance. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: •Master's Degree, in instructional design, educational technology, or related academic discipline. •2+ years experience working directly with college faculty in the development of online courses. •Training in instructional design, educational technology, or related field. •Expertise and knowledge of best design practices for the development of online learning environments. •Experience with Course/Learning Management Systems. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in any of the following: •5+ years working directly with college faculty in the development of online courses. •Systematic instructional design process for electronic learning environments, preferably for graduate level courses curriculum improvement •Creating multimedia and interactive learning experiences •Experience with Moodle LMS and Mahara ePortfolio system •Working in a distributed organization. •Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. •ADA compliance and accessibility issues •Current course design assessment rubrics •Exceptional project management skills; ability to multi-task and meet deadlines •Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills. •Demonstrated ability to maintain currency with emerging technologies.
