Director of Intercultural Student Affairs


Position Summary: The Director of Intercultural Student Affairs is to coordinate student-focused programming efforts that affirm the diversity represented within the University community and the value and vitality that pluralism brings to our individual and collective experience. The incumbent will provide leadership for coordinating, implementing and assessing robust thematic programming related to diverse populations such as Hispanic Heritage Month, LGBT History Month, Black History Month and Women's History Month, support leadership development activities for related affinity groups and implement initiatives designed to support historically underserved student populations. In addition, the incumbent will coordinate Bias Response programs and activities and will lead division-wide efforts to ensure the advancement of diversity and social justice initiatives and learning outcomes.


Minimum Qualifications: The incumbent must have demonstrated experience in organizational, human relations, problem solving, and communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external constituents in connecting all of the programs and services offered in the Student Life Unit. The incumbent must have knowledge of the challenges facing a commuter campus moving to one that include resident students. The incumbent must also be committed to exploring and implementing new technologies in support of quality programs to meet the needs of the future as well as today. The incumbent must have a minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited institution in counseling, student personnel, higher education administration or related discipline. The incumbent is required to have at least five to seven years of work experience in Student Affairs with extensive experience in implementing student activities, recreation, or commuter center in progressively responsible positions in higher education or related area. The incumbent must have demonstrated experience in leadership, motivation, and problem solving skills. Applied experience in budget development and planning, appropriate technology and data base management and excellent oral and written communication skills is also required.
