Working Title: Writer-Editor

Job Summary/Essential Functions:

Eastern Washington University is seeking a 50% time Writer/ Editor. The writer/editor is responsible for the clarity, editorial accuracy and "voice" of all written content, print and website.

The writer/editor develops content, interviews and writes for Eastern24/7 online news and information site for faculty and staff. Writes copy for collateral materials and edits research reports and other publications. The writer/editor works with the writer/editor supervisor and other staff to manage much of the editorial output of the organization emanating from departments, such as academics, student affairs and advancement.

Additionally, the writer/editor works on strategic plans and other marketing projects to benefit and advance the university.

Work Schedule: Four hours each day - Monday - Friday. Schedule is negotiable.

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a B.A. degree in Journalism, English or related degree.

Three years' professional experience as an editor and writer working in print, electronic and web formats.

Ability to adapt to university standards and AP style guide.

Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated success shaping a company's publications/website to be a key communications vehicle.

Proficiency with blogging software such as Word Press.
