Duties: Under the supervision of the Vice President for Student Development, the Dean is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of Academic Advising, Articulation and Transfer Information, Counseling and Career Development, Disability Services, Freshmen Seminar (COL 101) and Study Abroad. The Dean is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning. Education/Experience: A Master's degree in counseling/psychology, student personnel administration, educational administration or related area; a minimum of five years of progressively responsible administrative experience, specifically in advising and counseling including in program development and teaching. Must have proven track record in implementing programs related to student retention and completion, grant writing and management experience. Qualifications: The Dean, Student Engagement must have demonstrated experience in current approaches to student development, student counseling and advising; understanding of cultural and diversity concerns and perspectives, including the ability to move an institution forward in its thinking on how to reach out to underrepresented populations; demonstrated use of technology specifically student information system to support advising, counseling, degree audit, and web-enhanced services to augment the work of student development professionals; experience with a commitment to shared governance culture, consensus building, and a team approach to management; a strong record of successful working relations with students, faculty, staff, and external agencies; excellent written and verbal communication; strong leadership skills combined with high energy and enthusiasm; ability to organize complex operations; plus other duties as assigned.
