Position Summary/Purpose of Position: Seeking a progressive and innovative leader to manage the day-to-day operations of the Learning Assistance Service of the Counseling Center. The successful candidate for this position: (1) provides supervision and training of educational skills counselors and graduate assistants and serves as a member of the Counseling Center’s administrative team; (2) develops innovative programs and interventions to meet the learning needs of University of Maryland students; (3) provides supervision and oversight of the Guided Study Session program including collaboration with faculty; (4) provides individual academic coaching/counseling and consultation and outreach presentations for academic departments, faculty, staff and student groups; (5) serves on Counseling Center, Student Affairs and campus committees; (6) teaches educational skills courses for undergraduate students. Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate in Counselor Education, Counseling, Higher Education, Math Education, or related field. 3 to 5 years of experience in the administration and delivery of college-level academic support, advising, or learning assistance services. Ability to work with a diverse student population. Preferences: Experience in the use of technology for college level teaching and in the provision of academic support services.
