Position Summary/Purpose of Position: Serves as a Software Development Project Manager for the Center for Advanced Transportation Technology Laboratory. This position is a technical project lead overseeing multiple software development teams working on 6-10 concurrent projects ranging from quick turn-around projects (1-3 months) to large scale projects (2 years). Primary responsibilities will include creating and maintaining project plans that communicate tasks, milestone dates, status, and resource allocation. The Software Development Project Manager will be responsible for leading cross-functional development teams in the implementation of short iterative deployment cycles (lightweight and/or agile programming). Minimum Qualifications: • B.S. in Computer Engineering or Computer Science • Experience or coursework in Engineering Management, Systems Engineering, or Project Management • Minimum of 4 years of technical software leadership experience • Minimum of 6 years of experience in software development • Strong verbal, presentation, and writing ability • Strong organization and time management skills • Strong analytical problem solving skills • Ability to concurrently lead multiple software development teams • Ability to concurrently manage multiple software development projects • Basic Linux knowledge and experience Preferences: • Experience with distributed computing and storage frameworks such as Hadoop • Experience with large datasets storage and processing • Experience with any of the following languages o Java (primarily J2EE – Spring, Hibernate, JAXB, JMS, Logback) o C++ o JavaScript o PHP • Experience with relational databases and writing SQL • Advanced Linux knowledge and experience • Basic networking concepts knowledge Additional Certifications: Additional Information: Questions about the position can be directed to Nikola Ivanov at ivanovn@umd.edu.
