Would you like to work in a busy campus program that has something to offer all students at Keene State College? The Office of Academic and Career Advising is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual to serve as a valued member of the team supporting student transitions from opening day of Orientation through graduation and beyond. As a member of this dynamic team, the Career Adviser will advise, counsel and assist students and alumni concerning career plans making themselves competitive and attractive in their initial career success; develop a mutually beneficial relationship for businesses seeking qualified, entry-level hires and Keene State College grads searching for potential career opportunities. Within the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Keene State College and reporting to the Director of Academic and Career Advising, the Career Advisor will also provide class presentations and special event planning to support students and alumni in their career exploration, research and planning to successfully compete for jobs; assist students in researching, identifying and applying for internships; develop and maintain relationships with businesses to provide for their entry level hiring needs; facilitate career events and on-campus/off-campus recruitment opportunities; collaborate with faculty, staff, students, alumni, employers, and community partners on career advising services, events, presentations and recruitment efforts; identify the most current and effective trends and practices in career preparation and success; provide support for faculty in the areas of mentoring and career preparation for students; coordinate with other campus constituents around experiential learning opportunities including internships; assist in the day to day ACA functions, other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: Master’s degree and two years’ experience in academic counseling, post-secondary career planning and placement or related experience; proven interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated use of social media in connecting with employers and students; experience developing and maintaining relationships with employers; ability to travel and work occasional nights and weekends; valid driver’s license. Additional Desirable Qualifications: Experience in a college/university career advising or placement office, experience guiding students through graduate school search and application process, and conducting outreach to employers for student employment and internships; knowledge of the importance of internships in the development of college students. Starting salary range: $40,870 complemented by a competitive benefits package.
