1932 - Business/Data Analyst
Posting Description: Examples of Work Performed: * Design and document business processes by meeting regularly with faculty and administrative staff from each department and/or administrative area. * Meet regularly with business owners to define and design usable, interactive reports using axiUm info manager, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Access and/or SQL Server Reporting Studio to allow users to explore patterns in data collected for each department. * Lead in the critical evaluation and processing of data that is being collected and give feedback. * Analyze user interactions with systems in the SDM, identify opportunities for process improvement through system enhancements. * Develop screen mockups and process flow diagrams for new and existing users. * Create training materials and conduct online/offline training sessions with participants in different departments and/or administrative areas. * Work closely with all levels of end users, including executive level staff and affiliates, in understanding and analyzing the SDM departments & administration processes. * Utilize business analytic tools and techniques to monitor business processes, data quality, and system utilization, illuminating areas of concern and proposing resolutions. * Assess opportunities for new systems/modules and processes to increase the value of services provided by the SDM * Identify ways to maximize the use of data in support of key activities and present alternatives to management. * Maintain knowledge of clinical research & human subjects' policies and regulations and analyze for potential impact on systems. * Apply best practices by obtaining input from vendors regarding creation of functional requirements for applications and analytics, including workflow diagrams, relational data models and screen mockups. * Provide assistance with rolling out new software and software upgrades, updates and configuration changes. * Conduct end-user training on new software and technology and write/maintain documentation. * Develop and maintain a repository of instruction materials (documentation, presentations, etc.) to facilitate the adoption and use of software applications throughout the SDM, including an extensive knowledgebase of FAQs and similar self-service tools for end users. * Assist in maintaining and supporting SDM software and applications. * Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or another field closely aligned with business analysis in a software context.
Closely related experience analyzing and defining business practices/processes may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.
* Two (2) years of experience with business operations and with designing and/or supporting software systems for end users.
Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: COMPETENCIES/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES * Proven ability to teach and/or train on the use of computer hardware and software, both one-on-one and in a classroom setting. * Working knowledge of clinical computer management software (axiUm, Dolphin Management) or equivalent (ERP level support). * Ability to evaluate policies and exercise good judgment in the interpretation of policies, procedures and rules. * Demonstrated ability to organize and complete complex projects and to work under tight deadlines. * Advanced level of Microsoft office and Crystal Reports. * Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, faculty and students. * Understanding of the financial aspects of a clinical computing system. * Extensive knowledge of reporting systems and producing quality reports. * Good working knowledge of windows 7/8 and office 2010/2013. * Advanced troubleshooting skills and ability to multitask. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Outstanding planning and organization skills. * Demonstrated ability to build rapport and interact effectively with end-users and leadership, sense of urgency and patience in dealing with end users. * Ability to work independently or as part of a team. * Excellent customer service skills.
Desired Qualifications: PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with clinical operations and with designing and/or supporting software systems for end users in an academic medical or dental environment. * Experience working with axiUm Software. * Advanced Experience with Microsoft Office, and workflow charting software (e.g. Visio, SQL Server, Crystal Reports and SQL Server Reporting Services). * Experience in writing SQL queries, procedures, functions and triggers. * Experience with software design principles, including workflow analysis, data modeling, and user interface design. * Experience documenting policies and procedures, training materials, and instructions for end users.
