Job Description: This position works under the direction of the University of Florida [IT Director of Network Services], which provides network and telecommunications infrastructure services to the University of Florida (UF). The UC/Collaboration Architect is responsible for the development of the overall Unified Communications and Collaboration (UC) vision for UF. This includes researching, documenting and communicating the UF UC reference architecture. The UC area includes voice, video, messaging and social computing. The incumbent also drives the overall planning, design and deployment of UC solutions at UF, including: * Producing short, medium, and long-term plans for the direction and the optimal design of UC components. * Creating detailed designs for the optimal configuration and integration of existing UC solutions. * Evaluating emerging UC technologies and practices, recommending best practice architecture, designing the collaboration roadmap, supporting network element test plans, and performing in-depth vendor evaluations. This is a senior level position.

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 8+ years of direct experience with Cisco VoIP or UC technologies; 3+ years of direct experience working with videoconferencing solutions; Solid knowledge of core VoIP and Video protocols and standards (e.g. SIP, H.323)
