Supports projects, initiatives, and activities that impact an academic or administrative department.

- Manages basic office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information.

- Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.

- Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections.

- Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.

- Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.

- Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.

- May supervise office staff and student workers. 

- Performs related duties as assigned.

In support of the Queens College mission, strategic goals and plans, the Department of Sociology seeks to fill one Administrative Coordinator position.

Reporting directly to the Chair of the Sociology Department, the Administrative Coordinator is responsible for coordinating administrative tasks within the office.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Assisting the Chair and other faculty and staff with administrative tasks related to office and personnel management.
- Coordinating administrative activities performed by office staff in the department.
- Maintaining the Sociology website to ensure information is current and accurate and updating social venues such as Facebook and Linkedin with current departmental program information.
- Managing the Chair's calendar and setting up meeting requests from faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Updating and maintaining spreadsheets and records pertaining to faculty matters, budgets, students, and alumni.
- Updating departmental workloads reports.


Bachelor's Degree required.


- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Data and information management skills using   Cunyfirst, EPAF, Excel, MS Access, Sharepoint, WordPress  and Oracle/PeopleSoft systems
- At least two years of experience in higher education including extensive contact with faculty, staff, and students


$35,576 - $38,407
