Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Manager of Media Services, housed in the Dean's Office of the Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE), and the Assistant Dean, this position is responsible for the maintenance and updates of the Dean's Office WordPress website, data management and coordination of various DUE programs, and assists with special projects or events. Position will also serve as a resource to other DUE units regarding the management and maintenance of their individual websites and to the Dean's Office regarding maintaining other database and web application management.


Salary: Hourly $21.60

Work Schedule: 8-5, M-F

Job Essential Function 1
Percent of Time: 60%
Administer Division-wide WordPress Multisite portfolio, including management of user access controls, roles, plug-ins, themes and templates. Employ HTML and CSS to construct content, improve website usability, and address formatting or content issues. Ensure consistency throughout all program web pages hosted by the Division.
Research, test and implement WordPress widgets, plugins, templates, and themes. Remain current on emerging WordPress and related trends, suggesting strategies for the adoption of new technologies and techniques aimed at increasing CMS experience for multiple constituencies.
Build, update and edit web pages for the DUE Dean's Office website. Gather, format and insert images into Dean s Office Website.
Act as primary contact for questions regarding Division WordPress. Assist staff with WordPress-related technical and usage problems, providing technical consultancy services to stakeholders. Create written help documents as needed.
Monitor WordPress software updates and coordinate with System Administrator to patch and update service. Perform other routine maintenance as needed.
Maintain software and security principles and best practices and document technical and functional specifications.
Job Essential Function 2
Percent of Time: 30%
Responsible for entering new and updated course data into the Course Inventory Management system for all Division of Undergraduate classes, including communication with submitting faculty, file copying, editing and uploading.
Manage data and course information of the New Student Seminars Program (for Freshmen and Transfer students) via Access database including responding to faculty who apply, providing it for the Schedule of Classes and maintaining the program websites with current course and application information.

Percent of Time: 10%
Serve as backup within Dean's Office to cover special projects or event needs.
Other duties as assigned.
1-3 years with BA/BS or an equivalent combination of both education and/or experience.
Ability to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and staff, as well as be able to follow verbal and written instructions
Excellent computer skills
Knowledge of simple Photoshop formatting commands and basic photography
Knowledge and experience working with WordPress, graphic design and multimedia
Experience with WordPress plugins and themes
Experience using web technologies such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari
Ability to maintain web sites using WordPress
Ability to exercise independent thinking and judgment in order to effectively keep track of and complete assigned projects in a timely manner
Proven ability to provide excellent customer service; service-oriented
Ability to maintain a positive attitude and contribute both as an individual and as a team member to achieve the goals of the department
Ability to establish priorities, multitask and handle multiple projects at one time
Ability to be flexible in a diverse work environment
Must be detail oriented
Working knowledge of WordPress API, built in functions, hooks and filters
Experience managing WordPress installations and third party plugins, ideally, WordPress Multisite.
Ability to provide recommendations to others regarding website options, trends and design standards
Knowledge and experience with simple HTML tags, CSS, PHP, Dreamweaver
Experience with Microsoft Access and Excel skills to enter and extract information
Familiarity of UC Irvine and the Division of Undergraduate Education
