The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions is a member of the Admissions and Recruiting Team, reporting to the Director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions. The Assistant Director has responsibility for assisting with the admissions pipeline process and activities (driving inquiries to application) for the programs in the Graduate School of Business Administration (GSBA) which include the Full-time MBA, the Evening MBA, the MS Finance, the MS Finance/MBA, and the MS in Technological Entrepreneurship. The Assistant Director participates in and supports the execution of pipeline support activities which include regular communication with inquiry and pre-application populations and responding to specific inquiries.
The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions will also participate in processing and reviewing applications, tracking decisions, and updating student records in the web-based ApplyYourself and Connect systems.
The Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions will participate in recruiting activities throughout the year both locally and those which may require travel, including corporate on-site visits and information sessions; MBA and graduate school fairs and forums; university events; GSBA general information sessions and program-specific sessions.
In addition, the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions will participate in implementing on- and off-campus recruiting and yield events including information sessions and open houses for admitted candidates.
The local MBA and MS program markets are extremely competitive. Aggressive and consistent admissions efforts are essential to increase the quantity and quality of admitted students. Generating lots of interest and leads is meaningless without consistent follow-through and moving applicants through the pipeline to application. In addition, the College of Business Administration is committed to raising visibility by improving its position in the business school rankings. The efforts of the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions will be critical in this regard.
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred or graduate degree in higher education administration. At least three years’ experience with preference given to candidates who have experience in MBA or graduate admission and recruiting. Candidates must demonstrate a professional presence and maturity in dealing with a variety of audiences, external and internal to the university. Excellent interpersonal, oral presentation, and written communication skills are critical for success. Expertise in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and database management. Strong project management/organizational skills with attention to detail, commitment to quality, and ability to balance multiple demands from demanding constituencies. Creativity, positive can-do attitude, flexibility, initiative, and ability to function effectively as member of a team. Responsive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement. Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
