Job Description:

This position is a temporary position, renewed on an annual basis.

This position carries the responsibility of coordinating capital construction projects for Alfred State College.  The Site Rep will manage capital improvement / new construction plans from project inception to close out, and work with the Controller, Director of Procurement, Director of Facilities Services, Assistant Director of Facilities Services and the Maintenance Supervisor I to coordinate renovations performed by outside contractors.

Job Description

Obtains input from facility users during project programming and planning phases

Serves as liaison between facility users, SUNY Construction Fund, architects, engineers, and contractors.

Prepares construction estimate costs and specifications

Prepares project and construction schedules

Inspects, evaluates, makes recommendations and prepares scope of services required on existing building, building systems and components for new construction, renovation and remodeling projects.

Evaluates ongoing construction projects

Administers multiple contracts, attends design and construction meetings, reviews contractor pay requests and oversees construction operations.

Ensures construction is performed according to project plans and specifications

Conducts meetings and corresponds with the SUNY Construction Fund, contractors, architects, engineers, and facility users or other campus personnel, as necessary

Prepares, reviews, and approves project manuals, plans and specifications for campus-let projects

Reviews and approves project manuals, plans and specifications for campus lets and SUNY Construction Fund on all construction projects.

Prepares requests for proposals, requests for information, and completes other SUNY, State, or Federal forms associated with the construction projects.

Prepares reports and correspondence associated with construction projects.

This is an important position for providing excellent customer service to the campus community, SUNY Construction Fund, architects, engineers, or other individuals associated with these projects.  The  Site Rep will be responsible to use exceptional customer care practices.

The  Site Rep will report directly to the Controller.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with studies on a related field or 6 years of progressively responsible experience in construction management.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, building codes, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various constituencies

Strong math skills required

Ability to define and solve problems

Ability to manage and organize multiple projects of varying sizes.

Knowledge of laws, codes and regulations relating to building construction, design and specifications including public New York State facilities

Good understanding of the design and construction process
