POSITION SUMMARY: The Dean of Corporate and Continuing Education provides leadership to a department that responds to the changing workforce environment. The Dean collaborates with employers, community organizations, and education and government entities to develop career path opportunities for residents and a talent pipeline for employers. Through these collaborations, the Dean will also provide customized training and consulting services to companies and their employees by providing solutions that increase engagement, productivity and reduce costs. The Dean is responsible for revenue generation with a financial commitment to the College. REPORTING AND SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Direct reporting relationship to the Vice President of Community and Economic Development. 2. Direct supervisory relationship with the staff of Corporate and Continuing Education, the staff at the Matteson Area Center (MAC), and the staff of the Transportation Warehousing and Logistics (TWL). CLASSIFICATION: Dean RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversees the collaboration and coordination of program offerings within the Department of Corporate and Continuing Education. 2. Provides leadership in identifying the training and educational needs of local business and industry. 3. Identifies business opportunities by identifying prospects, calling on prospects, developing relationships and recommending and implementing business solutions. 4. Understands the trends in the industry and provides guidance in developing new programs to meet the needs of the students and businesses. 5. Develops strategies to obtain new business, augment current relationships, and drive sales to increase the department’s financial contribution to the College. 6. Serves as liaison with the Division of Academic Affairs in developing and coordinating credit and non-credit programs. 7. Researches and develops proposals and grants as alternative funding streams such as state and federally funded workforce training programs 8. Develops long-range strategic and marketing plans for the department. 9. Develops and maintains proper budgeting, fiscal and personal resources, report preparation and management within assigned area. 10. Oversees the preparation of scheduling information for publication. 11. Assists College officials in providing and facilitating professional development opportunities for College staff. 12. Represents the College in state and national organizations and establishes linkages with local, regional, state and national resources. 13. Assumes responsibility for the final outcome and success of the department and its contribution to the division and institution. 14. Serves on appropriate College committees. 15. Assumes other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Community and Economic Development. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Master’s Degree 2. 5 years’ sales experience 3. Experience in selling business solutions and/or products to businesses and organizations 4. Have an understanding and familiarity of the business and industry needs in the Chicago Southland region 5. Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving; ability to determine solutions for customers 6. Must be results orientated and able to work independently and within a team environment 7. Demonstrated excellent written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills 8. Experience in budget administration 9. Supervisory experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 1 year sales in the Chicago Southland Region 2. Graduate work beyond a Master’s degree 3. Experience in corporate training and education 4. Experience in community college or university administration 5. Experience establishing programs in workforce development
