Assistant Director of Marketing and Recruitment

Reporting to the Director of Post-Graduate and Professional Studies (Los Angeles campus), with resource assistance from the Director of Digital Marketing and Executive Director of Continuing Studies (Boston campus), the Assistant Director of Marketing and Recruitment oversees and coordinates all aspects of marketing for Emerson Los Angeles’ academic programs and activities. This includes: designing, implementing, managing and tracking marketing campaigns specifically designed to meet the core directives of:
• Driving prospective student enrollment in assigned programs at the Los Angeles campus, and;
• Furthering the campus’ general reach within desired communities/demos
This role would best suit a driven, resourceful, forward-thinking individual with an entrepreneurial spirit—someone who enjoys servicing a standard compliment of marketing channels, while also thinking “outside of the box” to provide creative solutions to maximize demo exposure within budgetary, time and resource frameworks. Additionally, he or she should possess strong organizational and time management skills, enjoy assisting prospective students and interacting therewith in person, on the telephone and via email.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Marketing from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience
• Marketing strategies, processes, techniques and channels—with a very strong focus on digital
• Excellent communicaiton and interpersonal skills
• Budgeting and tracking
• Strong familiarity with media markets
• Attention to detail, organizational and time-management skills
• Computer fluent: OSX, MS Office Suite, web, apps.
• Able to adapt to a changing set of responsibilities, directives, schedules and assignments
• Ability to deliver quality work on multipe simultaneous projects to deadline
• Solid analytical, decision making, problem solving and original thinking skills

Preferred/Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Education (including hardware, software, and equipment)
• Knowledge of PR
• Ability to “manage up” and keep superiors aware of requsite developments
• Knowledge of non-profit education sector
• General knowledge of college recruitment
• Able to identify and anticipate problems (and thus develop and present preemptive solutions)
• Motivated and able to work collaboratively or independently as the project requires
• Exhibits tact, good judgment and common sense in the execution of the duties of the role
• A commitment to diversity and team building

Required Prior Work Experience
• 3-5 years of experience at an established regional marketing firm (or department) at the managerial level and/or control over marketing campaigns (including campaign design, budgeting, media buys, digital and conventional strategies and spaces, campaign tracking, etc.)
