The Director of Bands will be responsible for coordination of instrumental programs, which include administration of the daily operation of the Saint Augustine’s University Marching Band, Concert Band and Jazz Band. The success candidate will play a significant role in student recruitment, community and alumni outreach. Candidate must also demonstrate ability to communicate and facilitate a vision that continues building the University’s marching band. Participation on department and university committees is expected as well as continue professional development, grant writing, and research obligations consistent with all faculty appointments. Must report all Clery Act crimes; and other related duties. QUALIFICATIONS: Terminal degree in music preferred. Master’s degree required. The candidate must have at least five years of experience at the secondary and/or college level with appropriate skills/experiences consistent with the HBCU marching tradition. The candidate should have successful experience as an instrumental director to adequately communicate and facilitate the current and future needs of the University’s proficient student musicians, particularly in markets applicable to Saint Augustine’s University. Strong consideration will be given to the candidate who can qualify for licensure by the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction and demonstrated appropriate skills/experience in music technology.
