The Keene State College Office of Student Involvement and the L.P. Young Student Center are seeking applications for a full-time benefitted position of Coordinator of Student Organizations & Night Owl Programs. The successful candidate will work in conjunction with and contribute to the Student Involvement program by providing oversight for the Keene State College Student Organization and Night Owl Café Programs. Currently Keene State hosts 135 recognized student organizations of various size, scope and purpose. The College is looking for someone with experience and vision to continue to guide this program into the future and ensure that our Student Organizations program is strongly supported and highly valued. This position will enhance the Student Organization Advisor program, develop a new recognition process, and work with other members of the Student Involvement team to provide relevant trainings for all Student Organizations. The Night Owl Café provides a unique space for programs and events housed within the L.P. Young Student Center facility. Currently the Night Owl serves as a multi-purpose eating and entertainment venue on the second floor of the Student Center. All events in the Night Owl are free for KSC students. The Night Owl also hosts a highly popular lunch program Monday thru Friday in conjunction with Dining Services. We are looking for someone to provide oversight of the physical space as well as facilitation and management for programs and events. This position hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates a student employee staff for the Night Owl Café and Game Room. In addition to oversight for student organizations and the Night Owl Café program, this position will also serve as primary advisor to the Freshman Class and support their development and program planning efforts. Young Student Center and Keene State College. Through involvement, students gain the experience needed to succeed socially, intellectually, and professionally during their time at Keene State College and beyond. Sponsored programs are thoughtfully designed to meet a variety of student needs and operate with unique goals supporting the mission of the Office of Student Involvement. Responsibilities include: • Oversee the day-to-day functions of the Student Organizations Program • Enhance, coordinate and facilitate Student Organization Advisor program including recruitment, designing and delivering trainings, providing resources and support, recognition, and evaluation • Develop and maintain a new Student Organization recognition process including an annual requirement component and active/inactive organizations process, creating and maintaining a more stable connection with Student Assembly • Collaborate with other Student Involvement staff to provide trainings for student organizations on relevant and necessary topics covering basic skills relevant to operate student organizations (including but not limited to budget maintenance, policies, procedures, how to run meetings) • Coordinate the Night Owl Café and Game Room annual programming schedule • Manage operations for the Night Owl Café and Game Room facilities including technical and recreation equipment • Develop and facilitate policies and processes to encourage and support student organization use of space • Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate student employees within the Night Owl Café • Coordinate marketing and advertising for Night Owl Café and Game Room • Serve as primary advisor to the Freshman Class • Conduct periodic assessments and evaluations of both the Student Organization and Night Owl Café programs • Participate in and support general Student Involvement and Student Center programming and management. • Create opportunities for students that complement the academic mission and overall College goal for developing service-minded, civically-engaged, culturally intelligent leaders. Qualifications: The successful candidate will possess a Master’s Degree by time of appointment in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education, or related area and one year of experience in advising student organizations or supervising student employees in a higher education setting (experience associated with a graduate program i.e. assistantship, practicum will be considered); knowledge and practice of student development theory, programming, and risk management; proven administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills; and demonstrated proficiency with computer applications including MS Office. Additional Desirable Qualifications: Leadership experience within student organizations, student activities, and/or student unions/centers; additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus. Anticipated starting salary range: $40,870-$46,270, commensurate with experience and complemented by a generous benefits package.
