Job Description:

APPOINTMENT: August 1, 2014


RESPONSIBILITIES: This position coordinates the retail sales and maintenance operations of the uTech Computer Store, including development of marketing plans and promotions. This position will provide day-to-day oversight of the uTech Computer Store sales operation, coordination of the maintenance and repair facility, maintain relationships with vendors, inventory tracking and control, and oversee staff. This position works with faculty and staff facilitating the integration of appropriate technology into their instructional or administrative functions. This position consults with faculty and staff on new and emerging technologies and their use in higher education.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Applicants considered for this position must have excellent verbal communication skills, documented experience with Apple Computers and technologies, and professional experience with Windows™ operating systems and technologies. Applicants must have demonstrated experience with new and emerging technologies, and experience with the technology needs and issues in an education environment. Applicants should have experience in marketing and promotions, and be able to give presentations and trainings.

Applicants considered for this position must have the ability to work with point-of -sale software, have experience with inventory control and business operations, have a working understanding of technical repair issues related to personal computer technologies, have proficiency with web-based communication (IM, Skype, social networks, mobile technologies, etc), and have the ability to work a flexible schedule.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates with at least 1 year of experience in a managerial retail sales position and 1 year of experience in designing and overseeing marketing and promotions are preferred.

THE DEPARTMENT: University Technology is primarily responsible for the network and systems operations at WIU, providing technology user support services, and electronic classroom support.  University Technology supports the students, faculty and staff in their technology needs.
