Associate Radiation Safety Officer

Position Summary: This position is an associate management position for the proactive management of the radiation safety program for the Department of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS). Position will be located in Marsico Hall and will include the Biomedical Research Imaging Center (BRIC); the Institute for Nanomedicine; specific Divisions of the School of Pharmacy; the Marsico Lung Institute; and core science facilities such as the NMR Center, Hooker Microscopy, and Flow Cytometry. This position reports to the Radiation Safety Officer and provides backup support to the other Associate Radiation Safety Officers (ARSOs), as well as using the resources of the work group to support the broad-scope research and medical radiation safety programs for UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Healthcare, and associated facilities.
Education Requirements: Master of Science in Health Physics or an appropriate scientific discipline, or sufficient health physics experience; certification in Health Physics, National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT), or similar discipline.
Qualification and Experience: At least seven years' experience in a broad-scope university and medical radiation safety program. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate using written, oral, and multimedia modalities. Demonstrated strong organization skills.
