Assessment & Research Specialist
Duties and Responsibilities: *Provide consultation to Student Affairs units on the design, implementation, interpretation, and reporting of assessment activities regarding student learning and development throughout the Division. Coordinate and implement Divisional assessment training and development including: *Develop, maintain, and facilitate staff development curriculum for all levels of Division staff. *Coordinate efforts of appreciation and recognition for Student Affairs staff, student employees, and student leaders engaged in assessment activities. *Assess the effectiveness and reach of A&R activities. *Participate in and support the efforts of the division-wide Student Affairs Assessment Coordinating Council (SA ACC). *Plan and implement divisional assessment projects, create assessment instruments as needed, manage and analyze data, create appropriate and utility-focused reporting products and presentations. *Collect, manage, and analyze a variety of student data including pre-enrollment characteristics, participation data, academic indicators, learning outcomes, student survey data, and university metrics. *Analyze data indicating trends in student's behaviors, satisfaction, retention and attitudes in terms of the institution's goals and interpreting the implications of these trends for institutional policies and practices. *Create and maintain guidelines for A&R operations and procedures for management of data, analysis, and reporting standards. *Regularly disseminate information about assessment and research findings to key stakeholders (i.e., Back Pocket Data) and serve as a resource to the university community regarding assessment and research practices. *Manage biannual reporting process for the Division, including collecting information from units and departments, following up on missing data, consulting to improve quality of reporting, and synthesizing data into a meaningful and relevant executive summary. *Provide support to Student Affairs staff in the use of online survey software platform. *Assess and fulfill data requests from campus partners and external parties, as appropriate and in compliance with FERPA, IRB, and all other privacy protections. *Serve on Division planning committees as needed. *In the absence of the Director, provide direction and leadership on assessment and research-related issues to the Division. *Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: *Master's degree (PhD preferred) in higher education/student affairs social sciences, or related field; demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple assessment/research projects simultaneously; a minimum of 3 years of research and/or assessment experience. *Demonstrated understanding of data analysis and how to turn data into actionable insights. *Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively. *Demonstrated enthusiasm for data analysis and application to practice, including the ability to use statistical analysis software such as SPSS. *Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written and communication skills. *Demonstrated flexibility and the ability to successfully balance multiple dynamic projects. *Demonstrated ability to strategically filter and analyze multiple, distinct data sets for communication to a variety of audiences. *Detail oriented, articulate clearly, goal-oriented, exhibit a high level of professionalism, and be exceptionally organized. *Ability to produce quality work under deadline pressure. *Solid research skills, including basic online research capabilities and ability to learn new research resources and locate best sources for information. *Excellent project facilitation, organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects and meet deadlines. *Demonstrated knowledge of student and organizational theories and trends in higher education.
