Reporting to the Vice Chancellor/Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Services, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Services/Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services (AVCES/AVPES) is responsible for the execution of the undergraduate Strategic Enrollment plans, policies, and directives as articulated by the Office of the Provost and, in conjunction with the Vice Chancellor/Vice President, directs strong system-wide enrollment efforts by providing centralized services and exercising leadership in building strong collaborative teams across the University of Houston System Institutions. The AVCES/AVPES provides leadership, management, organization, and administrative oversight of the delivery and operation of enrollment services in the following areas: Office of Admissions (including undergraduate student recruitment), Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, Office of University Registrar, Student Communications and Marketing, Enrollment Management Production Support (PeopleSoft Campus Solutions), and oversight of the UH Welcome Center. In addition, the position partners with the Associate Provost for Strategic Enrollment Planning and the Vice Provost and Dean for Student Success to increase retention and graduation rates. The AVCES/AVPES provides system-wide management oversight for the effective application of technology and the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the student modules of PeopleSoft; develops assessment plans and performance metrics relative to the delivery of programs and services; ensures all policy manuals are accurate and current; and develops relationships within and outside the University to create a shared commitment to recruiting a diverse undergraduate student body. The successful candidate will have a minimum of a master’s degree and ten years of progressively responsible experience in admissions and/or enrollment management. The successful candidate will have experience in the areas of yield enhancement and recruitment of academically talented, multicultural, first-year, and transfer students. Additionally, the successful candidate must demonstrate excellent abilities in supervision, management, selection, performance evaluation, leadership, conflict resolution, problem solving, and team building. The position requires a proven track record of exceptional leadership in admissions/recruitment and financial aid; experience with strategic planning, budgeting, and program development; the ability to effectively use data for analysis and assessment; strong interpersonal and communication skills; and the ability to contribute to the overall leadership and vision of the division. The new AVCES/AVPES will have proven knowledge of marketing principles, practices, and techniques relevant to student recruitment; experience in financial aid best practices to support student success strategies; appreciation of current and innovative technology used in recruitment and application processing; and an understanding of the importance of building and maintaining open communication with a variety of stakeholders.
