ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
The TSYS School of Computer Science at Columbus State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computer Science. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The TSYS School of Computer Science offers the B.S. degree in Computer Science with concentrations in Software Systems, Applied Computing, and Games Programming; the B.S. in Information Technology (on campus and online); the M.S. in Applied Computer Science; and a Computer Science Teacher Endorsement. The B.S. in Computer Science has been influenced by the ACM Computing Curricula and ABET accreditation guidelines, and the B.S. in Computer Science (Applied Computing) has been designed to support regional needs for enterprise computing software developers. The graduate program has emphasis in Information Assurance, Software Development, and Modeling and Simulation; this program is available online and on campus. The undergraduate programs support over 400 undergraduate majors and the graduate program currently enrolls over 110 graduate students. All 14 faculty members and TSYS School of Computer Science staff are located in the modern Center for Commerce and Technology, which is shared with the Turner College of Business and Computer Science, and the University Information and Technology Services. The incumbent will deliver quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses, conduct research to include student mentoring, student advising, developing and coordinating research proposals, and participating in university and community services. The successful candidate will also contribute to the research program of the TSYS School of Computer Science. Candidates with interests in any field of Computer Science are encouraged to apply and must have an earned Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field by the time of appointment (August 1, 2014). Candidates with a background and/or interest in Software Engineering, Databases and Data Analytics, Enterprise Computing (web and/or mainframe), Modeling and Simulation, and/or Computer Education are preferred.
