The Board of Trustees invites nominations and applications for the position of President of Drake University. Drake seeks an exceptional leader who will continue the positive momentum enjoyed under the leadership of David Maxwell, who will retire following more than 16 years of outstanding leadership as President. It is expected that the next president of Drake University will begin duties on or about July 1, 2015.
A University that established itself as a modern, inclusive, and integral part of a young and growing community, Drake is today recognized as one of the finest institutions of higher learning in the Midwest. By fostering collaborative learning among students, faculty, and staff, by integrating the liberal arts and sciences with professional preparation, and by remaining engaged with a diverse and dynamic world, Drake provides an exceptional learning environment that prepares students for meaningful personal lives, professional accomplishments, and responsible global citizenship. He or she must possess an understanding of what goes into excellent teaching, learning and scholarship; a collaborative leadership style; entrepreneurial business skills to accomplish growth in an increasingly competitive environment; and an ability to build financially remunerative relationships and partnerships with individuals, business partners and other academic institutions. A terminal degree is preferred, but all candidates will be considered by the search committee and board of trustees.
