The faculty of the Music Department at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications from individuals for a Tenure Track position in Classical Guitar at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The appointment will be effective Fall 2014.

Responsibilities will include teaching private lessons, guitar ensemble, and classroom guitar. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is strongly desired: theory/musicianship, improvisation, and/or music education. Additional responsibilities may include teaching general education music courses, core music courses in musicianship, theory, and/or music history, and interdisciplinary humanities courses. Other duties include creative/scholarly activities, curriculum development, student mentorship and advisement, high school and community college recruitment, participation in developing departmental procedures and guidelines, involvement in student outcomes assessment, and committee service at the department, college and university level.


Minimum Qualifications
A Doctorate (Ph.D. or DMA) as well as a minimum of five years of teaching at the university level is required. Demonstrated experience teaching university level classical guitar lessons; beginning, intermediate, and advanced classroom guitar; and both large and small guitar ensembles is needed. Experience teaching core music courses such as music fundamentals, theory, musicianship, history, and appreciation is also required. Candidates must also have experience teaching interdisciplinary courses in the humanities as well as experience with extended education and distance learning.
