Job Duties
  • Works with senior research management to facilitate and ensure that regulatory compliance efforts associated with research activities of the institution are met, such as following-up with investigators to assure that they are meeting compliance requirements in a timely and thorough manner and interfacing with external organizations for the purposes of establishing IRB Authorization Agreements (IAA).

  • Conducts internal reviews of research projects to assure compliance with federal regulations, departmental guidelines and funding requirements.

  • Coordinates and assures that all necessary compliance reports are prepared and filed with Federal agencies and national accrediting organizations in a timely manner.

  • Coordinates human subjects-related data sharing with the University, the GW Hospital and the Medical Faculty Associates.

  • Conducts pre-IRB review of research studies to ensure completeness of all required documentation in the IRB submission packet.

  • Assists investigators and members of the research team in understanding pre
    approval requirements of the IRB; communicates additional information as needed.

  • Manages study files through various stages of review and approval, and ensures the timeliness and accuracy of final documents.

  • Serves as a resource person to investigators and members of the research team needing assistance or guidance in complying with federal mandates, University policies and IRB requirements.

  • Ensures that the IRB Research Project Database is properly updated with accurate information pertaining to studies that were reviewed via Expedited or Exempt procedures and ensures that IRB study files are properly stored.

  • Enhances professional knowledge and skills by attending seminars, workshops and the review of published literature.

  • Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
