Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in related field. Must have solid research experience relating to the collection of tissue from surgical resections and endoscopic procedures and isolate intact RNA and DNA from patients' tissue and blood samples and bacterial culture. Must also have experience in micro biomedical research along with clinical research experience to include assisting with patient enrollment, ordering laboratory tests per study protocol and maintaining records and database. Proficiency with Excel, databases and statistical data analysis software.
Preferred Qualifications: Six months of clinical research experience. Previous experience with various molecular biology techniques including reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction assays, quantitative polymerase chain reactions.
Brief Description of Duties: The Research Support Specialist will be responsible for the following duties:
- Collection of tissue from surgical resections and endoscopic procedures, extraction of DNA and RNA from tissue and blood samples, perform microbiology techniques including reverse transcriptase polymerase and chain reaction assays.
- Assessment of eligibility of patients to become study participants.
- Ensuring the diagnostic and laboratory tests are ordered as per study protocol.
- Collection of clinical trial patient data within the institution and outside networks.
- Assist Director with information database via computer data entry.
- Maintain all records as required by study protocol.
Other Duties: As assigned by supervisor.
Special Notes: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
