The Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture seeks applications for a tenure-track position in the technology of building materials, systems and methods, and design, at the entering rank of assistant professor for September 2014. The successful candidate will join the full-time faculty who are responsible for maintaining and extending the discipline of architecture through their teaching, scholarship, creative practice, and participation in the responsibilities of the Department and School.

Position responsibilities include:
- Studio Instruction with emphasis on integrated building technology.
- Course Instruction in building systems technology.
- Coordinating building technology with other components of the curriculum.
- Providing studio support in undergraduate and graduate architecture programs.

The successful candidate will also be expected to actively pursue research or creative activity, and serve on department, school, and college committees.

City College of New York is a comprehensive university of approximately 16,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 1600 faculty and staff dedicated to teaching, research, and service.  The university has internationally recognized programs in engineering, science, medicine, public policy and architecture. The Spitzer School of Architecture comprises degree programs in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, and is a prime partner in an interdisciplinary urban sustainability program. Candidates are expected to have taught building technologies and design in an academic program.  Master's degree and professional license OR Ph.D. or the equivalent is required. Candidates must present evidence of, or potential for, successful experience in teaching, research and related professional experience including evidence of published and/or notable built work. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in an academic setting.

The applicant should demonstrate accomplishment in developing and implementing a broad range of building technologies, provide evidence of in studio and building technology teaching, and have a clearly articulated agenda for research and/or creative innovative practice in the area of building systems and materials. In addition, the selected candidate must demonstrate an ability to disseminate his/her creative work/design in appropriate venues.
