The Department of Architectural Technology seeks full-time faculty members to join our dynamic program, the only one of its kind in the CUNY system. The curriculum prepares students for the 21st century workplace, with a focus on design and building technology. NYCCT is committed to maintaining up-to-date technologies for student use. We have state-of-the-art computer and fabrication labs with the latest software and tools utilized in the field. The National Science Foundation recognized this commitment with a $900,000 Advanced Technology Education grant, which supports program development and faculty training.

The department's curriculum includes a two-year AAS degree grounded in structured sequences for design foundations, visual studies, and building technology, with additional courses in history, site planning, and environmental and structural systems. The next two years lead to the 4-year Bachelor of Technology degree, which includes intensive studios in design and building technology, and electives that support specialized areas of study, including advanced construction technologies and materials, building information modeling, advanced computation and fabrication, building performance and sustainable design, and existing building technologies. We are actively seeking to expand opportunities for hand-on field and office experience, and service learning. Our 18 full-time faculty members are practicing, licensed professionals, and our 60+ part-time instructional staff hold prominent positions in city agencies and in the region's leading private firms. 40 full- and part-time technical staff support instruction and department operations. Our graduates are in high demand, and our faculty and students have received recognition in local, national and international venues.

Position responsibilities include teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Faculty members share responsibility for department operations and are expected to take active leadership in department committees with administrative, supervisory, and other duties.


Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or a Master's degree with a professional license in New York State; the ability to teach successfully; demonstrated scholarship or creative achievement; and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution required.

Candidates should be able to teach across a range of subject matter. Candidates are particularly sought with expertise in performance analysis and sustainable technologies, building information modeling, or advanced construction assemblies and materials. For the rank of Assistant Professor, at least five years full time professional practice experience in a position of responsibility, significant professional or scholarly work, and prior college level architectural teaching experience are preferred. For the rank of Associate Professor, significant professional or scholarly work, and at least 3 years full time relevant teaching experience are required.
