Health Systems Analyst

We are searching for a Health Systems Analyst in the department of Health Informatics Technologies and Services who can be key to meeting goals and introducing innovative improvements.


This position will be responsible for support of applications used in healthcare coding.  Vanderbilt inpatient coders use a set of software known as 3M 360 Encompass, which includes natural language processing.  Be a part of this new technology!  This support analyst is part of a team which defines product design specifications.  The analyst performs build and application content configuration, design of reports and queries and resolves break/fix workflow issues.  Also included is responsibility for the interfaces from the electronic medical record and to billing which are required by this product.


Required Skills:

         Experience in support of healthcare server based applications

         Perform application content configuration

         Conduct unit testing

         On call for break/fix

         General programming experience

         Excellent communication skills with technical teams, users and vendors

         Ownership of assigned responsibilities without the need for close supervision


Preferred Skills:

         Working knowledge of HL7 construction and use

         HTML experience

         Experience with forms used in Clinical Inpatient Documentation

         Experience in building and using application monitors

         Design and build of relational database reports

         Experience with electronic Medical Records


Minimum Requirements:


This position requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years relevant experience. Equivalent combination of practical work experience and education will be considered. A background in healthcare and strong technical skills is required.



Additional Information:

Normal office hours are from 8:00am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Some nights and weekends for on-call and upgrades should be expected.

Salary is dependent upon education and experience

Background screens will be performed and must be approved prior to employment. Please be prepared to provide required information.
