Support communications team -Director of Engineering Communications, Sr. Information Officer and Social Media Coordinator - by providing help with writing assignments, web content and marketing among other assigned tasks.
Key Functions and ExpectedPerformances:
  • Contribute technical and non-technical feature and digest articles for various Engineering publications including a weekly e-newsletter, a monthly e-newsletter, social media channels,news website and various print pieces.
  • Operate content management system and contribute content to website (http://engineering.vanderbilt.edu/Home.aspx)
  • Research and write news releases,media advisories and website content
  • Oversee all aspects of the organization's internal digital signage program
  • Develop, manage and oversee production of departmental and interdisciplinary marketing materials
  • Develop, maintain and update copyand images for School of Engineering (VUSE) homepage and departmental landingpages
  • Support and develop variouscollateral needs to support integrated marketing and communications plans within Vanderbilt University
  • Monitor VUSE's Google alerts,organize news clips and create clip reports

Basic Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Exceptional writer (writing samples required prior to interview); preferably an experienced science/technical writer
  • Experience with content management systems, developing content, editing existing content; preferably Omni and WordPress
  • Proven success working individually and in small teams under high pressure and tight deadlines
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field, journalism, technical communications, marketing or related field
  • At least 2-5 years' experience preferred
  • Some project management experience -planning, executing and closing a project desired
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments with minimal supervision and be a self-starter
