POSITION DESCRIPTION Title: Director of Program Development and Data Systems Supervisor: Vice President of Policy and Programs Department: Policy and Programs General Description The Director of Program Development and Data Systems develops and implements programs, data analysis activities and research-based initiatives that are relevant to current professional issues in the field of educator preparation. The Director of Program Development and Data Systems reports to the Vice President of Policy and Programs. FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Tracks key national reports related to educator preparation and disseminates relevant information to organization staff and members in appropriate formats (blog reporting, summary briefs, etc.). • Develops and implements operational plans for the dissemination of relevant research findings to members and the public, and monitors the fulfillment of program and impact objectives. • Develops and manages a resource repository on innovative practices, evolving issues, and developing trends in educator preparation. • Develops and manages a database that identifies expertise among the Association’s members and tracks policy-relevant, evidence-based information, reports, and studies. • Responds to research and program-related questions from the AACTE membership, media, policymakers, and national as well as international education communities. • Develops strategies for determining and meeting the needs of members in relations to educator preparation. • Directs and oversees annual Professional Education Data System (PEDS) survey and develops reports of findings for presentation to members and the public. • Manages the AACTE Research Fellows selection process and supervises the work of the Fellows. • Collaborates with the Vice President to develop Annual Meeting sessions and major forums that showcase expertise among the association’s members and innovative practices in educator preparation. • Collaborates with the Vice President on program development and to coordinate the development of presentation materials for the President/CEO. • Serves as the Association’s primary liaison to the Committee on Research and Dissemination and supports work related to the Committee’s agendas. • Monitors grant contract and program activity budgets (as assigned). • Contributes to the overall work and mission of the Policy and Programs team and AACTE by effectively completing other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • Advanced degree preferred. • Understanding and awareness of national trends, best practices, and research in educator preparation. • Demonstrated ability to use data collection tools to effectively manage survey projects and interpret qualitative data. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in explaining complex information and resonating with audiences with varying degrees of subject knowledge. • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships and collaborate with all staff and external stakeholders. • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint; working knowledge of SPSS and web-based survey software preferred. • Excellent organizational, problem solving, and multitasking skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively. • Minimum ten years relevant experience • Prior supervisory experience required.
