DEAN, COLLEGE OF BUSINESS Department: College of Business Salary: Commensurate Job Summary Angelo State University seeks an experienced, dynamic academic administrator with proven leadership skills to serve as the Dean of the College of Business. Founded in 1928, Angelo State University is a comprehensive master's level institution located in San Angelo, Texas, a community of 100,000 in west central Texas. As the second largest campus in the Texas Tech University System, ASU enrolls approximately 6,500 students. More than 100 academic majors are spread among 43 undergraduate programs, 21 master's degree programs and one doctoral program. ASU was named to the Princeton Review's "Guide to 378 Best Colleges for 2014" for the fifth year in a row. ASU is also a Hispanic-Serving Institution. The College of Business at Angelo State University is dedicated to providing high quality education for the citizens of the State of Texas and beyond. The College is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). There are three departments in the College: Accounting, Economics, and Finance; Management and Marketing; and Aerospace Studies (AFROTC). In addition, the Dean is responsible for the Small Business Development Center and the Center for Student Success (Advising for the College). The College offers three degrees: Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, International Business, Management, Management Information Systems, and Marketing; a Master of Business Administration; and a Master of Public Accountancy. There is also a minor in Business Administration for students pursuing a bachelor's degree in areas outside the College of Business. The College has approximately 700 undergraduate students and 50 graduate students, awarding approximately 130 undergraduate and 20 graduate degrees each year. There are approximately 30 full time faculty and 15 full time staff in the College. The Dean is responsible for the operation of the College of Business. Reporting to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the dean will provide leadership to the college, develop current and future programs, engage in activities to increase graduate and undergraduate student enrollment, and provide effective management of the College of Business. Dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service, the dean is expected to cultivate strong alumni and external relationships to support and grow the college; have a vision to expand the College of Business as a strong academic center in the region with the experience and ability to support and implement innovative instruction appropriate for a twenty first century university; work collaboratively with colleges/programs at other Texas Tech University System campuses to create innovative initiatives, certifications and degree programs; will collaboratively create and implement both short- and long-term strategic goals consistent with the college's and university's mission and vision: is responsible for supervision and implementation of assessment and accreditation standards and initiatives, including separate specialized accreditation. A complete job description for this position can be found at: Qualifications An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution combined with a teaching and scholarship record that will qualify the candidate for appointment as a full professor in a department in the College of Business. Administrative leadership experience in higher education. Demonstrated ability to communicate and develop relationships and partnerships within the College, University and business community. Demonstrated strategic planning experience. Documented experience with budgets and personnel management. Knowledge in business accreditation standards and agencies. Demonstrated experience with distance learning programs.
