Assistant Director of International Student Recruitment
The Office of International Programs and Services at Jackson State University invites applications for the Assistant Director of International Student Recruitment. POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Director of International Student Recruitment is responsible for the recruitment of international students (ESL, undergraduate and graduate). The Assistant Director represents Jackson State University to prospective international students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff, and also serves the important role of ensuring that international educational credentials are accurately evaluated for both undergraduate and graduate admission and transfer credit purposes. The Assistant Director's foremost responsibility is one of public relations, with this position focusing on the recruitment of international undergraduate, graduate and ESL students to Jackson State University. The person in this position will create greater efficiencies and recruitment opportunities and frequently communicates with Undergraduate and Graduate admissions, the English as Second Language Program, and other international and student services offices to ensure proper coordination with Admissions. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in developing effective recruitment strategies for international students. Assists in the development of print, online and social media marketing campaign promoting JSU's programs and services internationally, engage alumni. Conduct recruiting activities and follow-up with prospective international students and their parents. Prepares correspondence for prospective students and responds to mail and telephone inquiries. Conduct weekly e-recruiting events webinar and chats to interact with prospective students and their parents. Visits and participates at U.S. and overseas high schools, colleges college fairs, student conferences, to recruit international students provide information to prospective students and their parents, and promote the college. Visit the U.S community/junior colleges with large number of international students to recruit transfer international students. Conduct individual counseling with students and parents, follow-up correspondence, telephone marketing, public relations related to student recruitment and all other aspects of student recruitment. Facilitate overseas in-home visits in collaboration with International Student Organizations in select feeder countries that have demonstrated the need for international education. Identify, train and use International Student Ambassadors to aid in international student recruiting. Acts as principal point of contact between sponsoring organizations and JSU, coordinates the provision of a variety of specialized programs and services designed to meet the needs of these sponsors and their students. Assist in development of contracts and funded programs, which sponsor international students; assisting with maintenance of sponsored international students records, database and other administrative tasks. Reviews and evaluates applications for completion, performs international credential evaluations to determine equivalency to US educations standards. Work closely with overseas and the U.S. high school guidance counselors to aid in the recruitment of prospective students. Keep current on university programs and changes within the academic schools and colleges. Participates in the development of operating goals and objectives for the unit. Recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations. Represents Jackson State University at conferences, meetings, and other official functions.
